They drink their fill of the abundance of Thy house... Ps. 36v.8
This morning as I prayed for you and asked the Lord for a fresh word to sustain you today, He gave me picture of a hummingbird! The dictionary definition is: Tiny, brilliantly colored birds with long slender bills, whose rapidly moving wings enable them to hover while drinking nectar from flowers.
The Creator of hummingbirds gave them the ability to steadily receive His best no matter the other bushes or obstacles in the way. With their long, slender bills they could sit in the living room and lick a spoonful of nectar in the kitchen. Seriously, they could drink from God's best on a Monday, or after making a big mistake, or on hearing bad news.
The rapidly moving wings are the fanning of the Spirit and the supernatural lift that the Presence of God and His angels bring to our everyday lives. It all awesomely holds us in place at the "filling station," so we stay fueled no matter what. It is not so much the highs and lows of our life of faith by the Spirit, but it is the consistency in steadily receiving that brings victory.
I like the fact that this tiny bird scientifically lacks the strength and energy to do all this - fanning its little wings rapidly at a blurring speed, staying in place, drinking in God no matter the pressure. ( Isn't that you, speeding around in your anointed Toyota, working, rasing a family, helping your church & serving the Lord with all your heart?) God put something great in the hummingbird - He put Himself.
Father, For all your precious hummingbirds today - all my mighty Sisters and Brothers reading this now- I say they drink their fill, and the overflow from their hearts and hands pours out on a needy world!
