And David, the king came and sat before the Lord and said....I Chron. 17v.16
God spoke some awesome promises in prophecy to King David in chapter 17 of First Chronicles. God rehearsed the history of David's life and revealed His Plan to keep someone in David's family line on the throne forever. Wouldn't you love to have that kind of relationship with the Lord? Let us look at how David responded to the Creator God pulling the back the curtains on Purpose and allowing his servant to hear these secrets.
1. Who am I? v.16 - HUMILITY. He didn't stick his thumbs under his royal suspenders , grin and say, "Of course I am wonderful."
2. What can I say to you, Lord? You know me.v.18 TRANSPARENCY. We can't fool God with our words. He looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16v.7 (Which is what God explained to Samuel when David was chosen over his taller, stronger, better-looking brothers to be king.)
3.O, Lord, there is none like thee. v.20 PRAISE. David not only praises God for what He is promising to do, but he also takes the opportunity to praise God for what He has done.
4. Let it be established v.23
Let it even be established v.24a
Let the house be established v.24b CLEAR UNDERSTANDING. David repeats God's words back to God. Have I got it right, Lord? Now, Father, You are going to do precisely this, right? Seal the deal with God. Make sure you have heard correctly. You will have confidence and assurance that the Lord has spoken and that you have what He has promised!
